When choosing your fabric feel it- remember your skin will be against it. If it feels rough chances are it will be uncomfortable to sleep on.
Fibers such as cotton and linen are breathable, thus providing a more comfortable sleep. Cotton/Polyester blends are also available to use, and while they don't breath as well, they are more durable. We recommend washing your fabric before sewing with it.

Measuring Up

1. Measure the length (L), width (W), and depth (D) of mattress.

2. Amount of fabric for tuck in, including hems is 8" (T)

Cutting Out

Length of fabric = L + (2 x D) + (2 x T)

Width of fabric = W + (2 x D) + (2 x T)

Cut the wide width sheeting fabric to this size.

Instructions

1. From each corner of the fabric measure D + T and mark.

2. Measure the same distance at right angles to these marks to form a square and mark.

3. Cut out squares leaving a 1/2" seam allowance.

4. Align cut corner edges, right sides together and stitch using a 1/2" seam. Finish the edges using a zigzag stitch or serger.

5. Cut four pieces of 1" wide elastic 24" long. Fold each of these pieces in half and mark the center.

6. Line up the elastic on the wrong side, so that it is flush with the bottom edge of the sheet and the center mark is matched up to the corner seam. Pin in place at corner seam. Stitch elastic in place using a zigzag stitch. Sew elastic from the center towards the ends stretching the elastic out along the edge of the sheet.

7. Fold up a 1" hem around the entire sheet and pin in place.

8. Stitch hem in place remembering to stretch elastic when sewing.
