Press, stretching binding evenly and gently to remove any slack.
Preshape binding to match curves of garment edge.
With wider edge on wrong side of garment, encase trimmed edge with
binding, pin and stitch.
Corners:
Stitch binding to edge of corner. Remove garment
from machine. Turn
binding
around corner, forming a miter by making a diagonal fold at
corner on both sides; continue stitching.
Curves:
Locate an inconspicuous place. Cut any ends to be joined on the
straight grain. Turn in overlapping end 13mm (½ inch); lap over raw
edge. Continue stitching binding to garment across the joining.
Slipstitch overlapped edges if necessary.
Ending:
Complete facings and turn seam allowances under or insert zipper
before applying binding. For an end at a finished edge, turn under raw
end of binding so folded edge of binding matches finished edge of
garment. On right side, stitch close to folded edge of binding,
catching in both edges of binding.
