How to Apply Piping

  1. Pin piping to right side of fabric, matching raw edges.
  2. Using a piping foot or zipper foot, sew as close to the piping as possible
  3. Place right sides of fabric together, stitch through all layers. Use the previous stitching line as a stitching guide (stitch in the ditch).

Corners:

Clip piping seam allowance at corner.

Curves:

Outer Curve: Clip seam allowance of piping around curve almost to the stitching line.

Inner Curve: Notch seam allowance of piping around curve. Pin to curve and seam to help take the shape of the curve.

Joining:

The starting end should be into the seam allowance and curved to align itselfjoining_piping with the seam line. Finish by stitching over the starting piece and curving end into seam allowance.
