Rotary Cutter Care

Always keep a sharp blade in your rotary cutter. Dull blades cause inaccurate cutting and unnecessary hand fatigue.

Periodically take cutter apart and remove lint with a soft cloth. This will keep the cutter rolling smoothly.

After cleaning lint from the cutter place one drop of sewing machine oil on the blade. This will help the blade to roll more smoothly.

Use only a self-healing mat designed for rotary cutting. Using other mats will cause your cutter to become dull.

Always put the protective cover over the blade when not in use. Even if just setting the cutter down for a minute.

Always cut away from your body.

Cut on a stable surface to prevent the blade slipping and causing injury.

Always keep out of the reach of children. The blades are extremely sharp.

Safely dispose of your old blades to prevent injury.

Cutting Mat Care

Never leave cutting mat in the sun or extreme heat or cold. This will cause the mat to warp and become unusable.

Always store flat. Leaning the mat or storing it on edge will cause it to warp. Most mats have a hole in them for hanging.

Vary where you cut. Repeated cutting in one area will wear out the mat quicker.

Keep in mind that no mat really heals properly if cutting curves.

Never roll your mat. Rolling it will cause the cuts to open up and the mat will crack.

Choose a size that best suits your needs. Bigger isn't always better!

Use diluted hand dishwashing liquid to clean the mat.
