1. Lay the 1.5 meter piece of Quilt Fuse™ on a flat surface which
can be ironed on (towels on a table work well), bumpy side up. |
| 2. Decide which of your fabrics will be number 1, 2,
3, and 4.Cut the four colours according to the above chart. Organize the
fabric squares into colour coded piles remembering which number you have
chosen for each. |
| 3.Following the coloured diagram above lay the fabric
squares out row by
row. |
| 4. Once the desired look is achieved set your iron to
the wool setting with light steam. Using moderate pressure press the
fabric squares onto the Quilt Fuse™. Work in a set pattern (left to right/
top to bottom) and overlap previously fused area, holding iron in place
for approximately 12-15 seconds. Important: do not slide the iron
over the fabric squares, pick it up and move it from section to section so
the fabric squares don't shift. |
1. Fold the first vertical column, right sides together, along the
dotted line making sure the fold is straight. Stitch a scant ¼ inch seam down the entire
length following grid line. Continue
to stitch each column, being careful to keep them straight as you sew.
Lightly steam or finger-press all seams in the same direction. Optional:
you may want to clip the seams where the grid lines intersect for easier
stitching. Fold and stitch across each horizontal row in the same manner
as the vertical. |
2. Lay the quilt backing out on a table or large area, right side down.
Next place the quilt batting on top of the backing, and lastly place the
quilt top right side up on top. Pin with safety pins all layers of your
quilt sandwich together. |
3. Quilt the wall hanging together using stitch in
the ditch, stippling, or by any other means desired. |
4. Remove the safety pins and trim the batting and
backing. |
5. Bind the quilt using one of the methods from
our Border & Bindings page
or using pre-packaged bias tape. |
6. To add a fabric sleeve for hanging cut a piece of muslin 6
inches wide by the width of the quilt. Turn under 1/2 inch on each end
and press. Turn under 1/2 inch on each end again and stitch. With right
sides together stitch a 1/2 inch seam on the long edge of the hanging
sleeve. Press seam allowances open. Turn casing right side out,
centering seam and pressing flat. Pin sleeve to back of quilt close to
top edge and 1 inch away from the sides. Hand-stitch sleeve to quilt
along upper and lower sleeve edges; stitching through the backing and
batting but not the front. |
7. Insert rod or wood dowel and hang as desired. |
